Returning the Motorcycle
Once the bike is returned to Motolombia, our in-house mechanics will wash and inspect the motorcycle within 3 working days.

If the motorcycle is returned unharmed, the Security Deposit will immediately after inspection get cancelled.

If damages to the motorcycle are registered, a damage-report with pictures of damages and quote for the cost of repairs and/or replacement parts will be worked out as fast as possible.

Depending on the damage report and the insurance plan chosen, funds to cover damages will be charged to your credit card or deducted from the Security Deposit before a partial refund is issued (please refer to “Damages” to learn what is considered such).

The Refund Process
The Security Deposit charge cancellation is handled automatically by the Credit Card Company. The normal processing time is 14-30 days before funds are made available to the card again, but the terms and conditions as stated by the Multi-National Credit Card System (Visa, Master Card, Amex etc) allow them up to 90 days for such internal processing for the re-adjustments of funds back to your credit card. This process is beyond Motolombia’s control.

Motolombia will forward a legal document from the Credit Card Company certifying the exact date and the amount charged-back from our account as soon as we receive this document from the Card Company. This constitutes the only legal document we can deliver to prove that the refund is in process. If there are further delays and you wish to open an investigation or dispute on the original charge this has to be done directly with your own bank or card provider.

OBS: Disputes on Credit Card charges has to be opened within 90 days from the date the original charge was made.

We strive to handover motorcycles in near showroom condition and ensure that you are always riding a latest model bike, we renew the fleet often. Motorcycles will have a maximum of 50.000 km on the clock or 2 years of age at the time of handover.

You will be offered an opportunity to inspect and sign for the condition of the motorcycle at handover. Our staff should be informed immediately if there are any issues that seems irregular. Vehicles must be returned in the same condition with only normal wear and tear.

If you damage or lose the vehicle or parts of the vehicle or accessories or need vehicle recovery or assistance due to damages, all repairs and replacements with NEW PARTS and/or lost time and business and/or price of recovery will be deducted from the Security Deposit or charged to the Credit Card provided as guarantee.

Damages are identified as parts that are either broken, bent, dented or profoundly scratched in paint or other materials penetrating the surface to a point where it can not be polished out.

Additionally your Credit Card will be charged with no delay for any traffic infraction obtained during the rental or tour, plus a $50 USD administration fee. Such traffic infractions can arrive up to 6 month after the rental. Legal documentation will be provided upon request.

In addition to the included mandatory third party liability insurance, an Optional Motorcycle Damage and Theft Liability Reduction Insurance is available that will limit renters risk towards loss, damage and theft of the rental bike.

There is no reason to pay double if you are already covered!
We recommend that you check with your own insurance company first to find out if your Travel Insurance or personal Property Insurance already covers damage and theft of rental vehicles. Some Credit Cards also have very good coverage for such incidences if you pay the rental using your Credit Card.

How does the Optional Motorcycle Liability Reduction Insurance work?
By purchasing the Optional Motorcycle Damage and Theft Liability Reduction Insurance for $25 USD/day you can limit your responsibility towards loss, damage or theft of the rental motorcycle to a set deductible value that is equal to the Security Deposit (approximately 10% of the commercial value of the motorcycle in Colombia).

If you DECLINE this insurance you are responsible for the FULL value of the motorcycle and all expenses including, but not limited to, recovery, loss, damage or theft of the bike.

In case of loss, damages or theft of an insured rental motorcycle and/or accessories, the Optional Motorcycle Liability Reduction Insurance will cover expenses that exceed the deductible. Size of deductible depend on the motorcycle model. Read “Security Deposit” tap.

The insurance does not cover recovery of the bike in case of un-repairable damages made to the bike and the rider is solely responsible for all costs involved with returning a damaged bike to Motolombia in Colombia. Motolombia will go above and beyond to help recover damaged bikes at as low cost as possible and often at no cost at all.

The insurance reduces, but does not eliminate responsibility for damage or theft and it will not protect you if you provide fraudulent information, use the vehicle in connection with conduct that could be properly charged as a felony, drive under influence of drugs or alcohol, reckless driving, use the vehicle in a speed test or contest, or if the vehicle is driven by a person other than the driver authorized on the contract. The rider must additionally comply with all terms and conditions in the rental contract and the local laws. Police or other authorities might demand a blood test in connection with an accident. Result hereof might also be used by the insurer to determine insurance settlements. Personal and third part property is not covered by this insurance.

“I am so glad to have chosen Colombia and Motolombia for my latest motorcycle tour. An amazing adventure experiencing a spectacularly beautiful country and it’s people. A clean, efficient and professional service made the experience a memorable one.”

Tim Cox (Australia)

“Motolombia was great and Colombia was great. Everyone on our tour had nothing but good things to say, and I think we all plan on going back. I have other friends who have toured with them, and they all had good things to say about Mike and Motolombia as well.”

Steve Durgin (USD)
